Today we will read the story Euphrosyne revocata part I and II (dialogues between Eryllus and Haterius and Haterius and praeco) pg. 206/207 in the book and make a little summary about what is being discussed. Also you can do the practice of deponent verbs by translating the following sentences. Be careful about the verb choices in your worksheet. You will not be able to choose the correct verb if you do not read the stories mentioned above. We will meet today (for those who can) at the usual time 10:30. Valete! Salvete!
Today's agenda is the new Stage 32. "Euphrosyne" After Euphrosyne's failed attempt to get into Haterius's house we will se what happened the next day. New vocabulary Stage 32 One of the new grammatical topics are the deponent verbs (I gave you the list before we left school) Basically these verbs have only passive forms, they set asside (deponere means to set asside) the active forms. Their passive forms are translated actively. Click here and here for the worksheets. Also, translate the Model sentences pg. 204-205 in your book. Do not forget that your participles perfect passive are now translated ACTIVELY ex. hortatus est is not having been urged but urged. To practice that difference in meaning click here. Also you can ckeck the pg. 283 in your book where you will find the chart of the deponent verbs conjugations. This could be enough for today. I will explain more at today's meeting at 10:30. Valete! Read the pg. 194 in the book and translate the examples in the PPT's given above. Today we went over the passive practice. Your quiz will be similar to the practice sheet. We will meet tomorrow at the same time (10:30) and I will give you the quiz. Regarding the Stage 31, keep on practicing ablative absolute (check my PPT's from yesterday and do the exercises at the end, on the last slide) For those who are done with that: go and read the story "Adventus" pg. 31 and do the worksheet While reading, pay attention to the passive tenses used in the story, take them out and write them on the piece of paper and translate (this will be a good practice for the quiz as well).
